I watched The Searchers last night. Never watched it before. Here are some of my favourite pics to share with you from my US trip last year. They say pure America to me.
Take care all

Looks like Utah to me! The pic with the truck sorta looks like I 70 near green river...
Gorgeous pics. I'd be a poor excuse for an American if I didn't point out that the west is only part of our beauty. The northeast may not have the scope and grandeur that can only be found out west, we do have mountains, valley communities and the luscious colors of autumn...just putting in a prop for my own tiny neck o' the woods.
Monument Valley is teh awesome. I drove through it a couple o' years ago in a rare, driving thunder/rainstorm and was amazed. I was disappointed at the time coz I didn't get those magnificent vistas like you published, Alison, but later on I reconsidered and was quite pleased.
And you're right, Gordon. Every time I go "back east" I feel vaguely constrained. These unlimited vistas grow on ya.

Hello Rude1
We travelled through and stayed in Utah, "Searchers country", Arizona and Nevada. Then over to California. I loved it all.

Great pic! Zion is still one of my favorite places to visit. Although it has gotten a little commercial the last 10 years or so.
Sounds (and looks) like you had a great trip! Throw Colorado on your next western adventure! :)

I've ALWAYS wanted to go there.

Your pictures made me think of a piece I wrote in 2006. I was moving from Utah back to Colorado at the time.
You won't be disappointed in Colorado I promise!

See, I grew up near there. Of course, by near, I mean further from there than London is to John O'Groats, but out west that's not far at all.
So the sky looks right to me. I've lived in Minnesota for 25 years now, and the sky still doesn't look right.
